Report on the 80th Independence Day Celebration – 2026

80th Independence Day Celebration – 15 August 2026

Kaliyuva Mane celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on 15 August 2026. The celebration brought together nearly 250 guests, including donors, volunteers, parents and relatives of the children, and alumni of Kaliyuva Mane.

The programme reflected the spirit of independence through a blend of patriotic presentations, physical activities, cultural performances, speeches and meaningful messages on education and nation building.

Programmes on the Field

The celebrations began on the field with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Guests of Honour, Brigadier (Retd.) Vishwas Kadam and Sri T. V. Nagaraj, Sports Mentor.

This was followed by a disciplined March Past by the children of Kaliyuva Mane. The children displayed remarkable discipline, coordination and confidence.

The Physical Formations presented by the boys and girls were one of the highlights of the morning. The children performed a variety of formations demonstrating agility, coordination, flexibility and teamwork. Their impressive performance was warmly applauded by the audience.

Programmes at Aravind Hall

The cultural and educational programme continued at Aravind Hall.

The programme commenced with an Invocation rendered by the girls of Kaliyuva Mane. The children sang “Jeeva Kusumavidu,” composed by the revered Brahmanandaji.

This was followed by Lighting of the Lamp by the Guests of Honour.

The girls then presented the School Song, based on Abraham Lincoln's famous letter to his son's teacher.

Shivakumar, a student of Kaliyuva Mane, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Guests of Honour. Anil, another student, spoke briefly about the significance of Independence Day.

The children presented a short skit on Indo-Pak relations, bringing out important aspects of the relationship between the two neighbouring countries.

This was followed by a presentation on Sri Aurobindo by Vijay, a student of Kaliyuva Mane.

The Chandana Team presented a patriotic Kannada song associated with the writings of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The girls of Kaliyuva Mane then performed a vibrant patriotic dance based on Hindi patriotic songs.

Messages from the Guests of Honour

Sri T. V. Nagaraj, Guest of Honour and Sports Mentor, addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of regular practice and perseverance. He emphasised that repeated and sincere practice helps a person improve and eventually achieve excellence.

The children next presented the bilingual skit “Unemployment.” The performance highlighted the importance of skill education and the need to equip young people with practical skills that can help them become self-reliant.

Brigadier (Retd.) Vishwas Kadam, Guest of Honour, appreciated the unique educational approach of Kaliyuva Mane. He expressed his happiness with the school's concept and remarked that Kaliyuva Mane is not merely a school, but also a nation-building activity. He admired the active involvement of the children and appreciated the dedication of the teachers in training and guiding them.

Award Distribution

The programme also included an award distribution ceremony. Vishwas, who recently secured the highest marks in the Class X examinations, received the Shailach Mitzwan Glinch Scholarship Award, instituted in memory of Dr. Jerome Lowenstein. The award was presented by Dr. Kotresh Neelakantappa.

The formal programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Niveditha, a student of Kaliyuva Mane.

Fellowship and Lunch

Following the programme, sweets were distributed among the gathering. A sumptuous meal was served to the guests, children, staff and volunteers.

The celebration provided an opportunity for the entire Kaliyuva Mane community—including children, parents, alumni, volunteers, donors and well-wishers—to come together and celebrate the spirit of independence.

Conclusion

The 80th Independence Day celebration at Kaliyuva Mane was a meaningful combination of patriotism, discipline, creativity, skill development and community participation. The children's confident performances and active participation reflected the values that Kaliyuva Mane seeks to nurture—self-reliance, responsibility, teamwork, discipline and service to the nation.

The inspiring words of the Guests of Honour, particularly the observation that Kaliyuva Mane represents a nation-building activity, added special significance to the celebration.

The day concluded on a joyful and patriotic note, leaving the children and the entire gathering with a renewed sense of pride in the nation and commitment to building a better future.
